Harvest Crossing Summer 2022 Update

Our Harvest Crossing mission has been moving forward and the Harvest Crossing team are pleased to provide an update of recent progress. Progress has been steady but measured due to complexities in compliance with State environmental requirements and regulations related to Federal grants. We are diligently working to meet all regulatory requirements.

Several milestones that have been met in the past few months include:

  • After a lengthy public advertising and bidding process have recently engaged McCain Consulting to provide engineering services for the design phase of the project. They will be initiating field work in September.

  • Sandy Wilmot participated in a panel discussing our efforts at a Statewide Conference titled “Addressing the Vermont Housing Challenge: Local and Regional Strategies for Success” in Barre. Sandy presented a summary of this relatively unique partnering between a faith-based organization (UCU) and Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity. We thank Sandy for ably representing us at the conference.

  • All preliminary requirements have been met for our $50,000 grant from Vermont Community Development Program. This means that the grant funds may now be used for specific project expenses.

  • Our Archeologic Assessment consultant plans to complete their field work in September. This is a follow-up to the initial research they previously completed.

  • Several community members have contacted us about assisting us with various aspects of the project. Community involvement is encouraged and will be a key component of this becoming a successful project.

Check back soon for future updates.
